How to make Granny’s Cocoa Cream Pie
Ingredients:
- Unsweetened Cocoa; I used 1/2 cup.
- 1/4 Cup.Of Cornstarch, or 1/2 cup.Of all-purpose flour.
- 3 Egg yolks.
- 11/2 Cups.Of white Sugar:
- A dash of Salt.
- 2 Cups.Of Milk.
- 1 small spoon.Of Vanilla extract.
- A 9“ Pre-baked pie crust.
METHOD OF WORK:
Step 1:
I started by combining the cocoa powder, with cornstarch (or flour), and whisked egg yolks in a medium mixing bowl; I added the sugar and salt, and I poured in the milk gradually. stirring continuously in a saucepan over medium heat.
Step 2:
I simmered until the sauce was rich and creamy, whisking constantly, and I added in the vanilla extract, stirring frequently for at least 10 to 15 minutes, as cream pies need time to thicken.
NOTE:
When you’re preparing something that calls for hard bottom baking, using a heavy, skillet to give you better results.
Step 3:
I keep stirring until the mixture thickened, then I poured everything into the pre-baked pie crust.
Step 4:
After that, I chilled in the refrigerator for several hours before serving.
Step 5:
At this stage, I garnished with whipped cream, cold whipping cream, or baked meringue, you can use what you like!!!
